How to throw the cranker style bowling ball?

I am relatively new at bowling (started 1 1/2 years ago) . I bowl in a league. I started with the stroker style approach and that is what i am still using today. I just recently purchased a black widow. This ball hooks more than my last ball. I would like to know how to throw the ball the cranker style or any variation of the cranker style to get more revs on my ball. Now, i stand in the middle dot and throw over the second arrow in heavy oil and stand farther to the left in dry lane conditions. I have the strength to throw a cranker style ball, but i have know idea how to do it. I also use a 4 step approach and my average is a 165. All i know is that when i throw the ball, I have to be at the line before my ball comes out. Please help me out.

Thanks

Luke

I used to throw a big crank ball.
I'm older now and don't have the strength now BUT My average has gone UP! Bout 205 now.... Was around 180 when I was younger... OK one year I was around 230 and getting extreme pin action.
I'd stick with the stroker and be an Earl Anthony all the way to the bank. Repeating the exact same thing every time is the winner.

But here it is...
before the approach over rotate the thumb to the outside.
take a BIG back swing when you get to the line lift up HARD pointing your thumb straight up.
Make sure you get that loft at the line so the ball slides and then breaks.

I always had to start way to the left (far as I could) and ball would cross the right side of the arrows Hang on the gutter and come screaming back.
The less oil on the lanes the harder I would throw it to get more slide.
It's difficult to con troll but done right the pin action is awesome.
Can't say I recommend it... I'm more consist ant and a better league bowler now stroking it...

Oh If you aren't throwing a 16 lb ball yet don't even think of doing it... Needs lots of strength... I'm 6'2" and 300 lbs... (OK I was 250 when I was younger... :)

What would be a good bowling ball?

As of right now I've been using the Ebonite Infinite one, and i'm looking for another ball to throw that isn't as aggressive and hooks later on the back end, but still hits hard, price range up to $150.. Thank you!

My "arsenal" has these bowling balls:

Brunswick Ultimate Inferno
Brunswick Red Zone
Elite Black Label
Elite Gold Label
Elite PBA Chameleon
Elite PBA Cheetah
Elite PBA Platinum
Hammer Black Widow Bite
Hammer Black Widow Venom
Morich Awesome Finish

You can check the respective bowling ball manufacturer's websites or bowlingballreviews.com and compare performance between these bowling balls. If you find one that you like, try bowling.com, bowlingball.com, bowlersparadise.com or bowlingballsales.com for lowest prices and possibly free shipping throughout the USA.

Also, performancewise, you can have any bowling ball you purchase "drilled exotically" based upon the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure more or less hook, flare and fine tuning it's performance. Just check the drilling sheet that comes with the ball.

Good luck!
