Bowling Ball Comparison What stops the earth from colliding with the sun?
From my knowledge, Einstein proved that space is in fact curved. I heard a comparison, that if you put a bowling bowl on a trampoline, the bowling ball sinks to the middle. When something smaller than than the bowling ball gets thrown onto the trampoline, it then "orbits" the bowling ball until it runs out of force and sinks to where the bowling ball is. If this analogy is correct then what stops the earth from "falling" to the bottom where the heavier object is?
Thank you all who answered.
Einstein didn't proof it, he theorized! Later experiments (advancement of the perihelion of Mercury, lightray bending past the surface of the sun) proofed him right. That's how theoretical physics works!
The trampoline analogy has confused thousands before you. It tries (poorly!) to illustrate how curved spacetime (it not space that's curved, but spacetime!) makes an object move along a curve, although all the object is doing is taking the shortest time on its own watch between between two points in spacetime. So the sun's mass causes spacetime to be curved, and the earth is just going along the straightest path possible in such a geometry.
The important thing to note is that the spacetime bending is there already, so you do not need an instantaneous action at a distance (which would violate special relativity)
Best Bowling Ball What is the best bowling ball brand of 2011?
I was just wondering because I will be getting a new ball soon for my birthday. I am a 200 and above bowler. Just give me some suggestions. I don't care about the price of which the brand of bowling balls cost!
How long have you been bowling? Do you consider yourself a cranker, a tweener, or a stroker? Do you like to play outside and throw more of a straight shot or do you move to the deep inside line and hook it a lot? Do you bowl on drier lanes or heavier oil?
I'll give you a couple of options.
Ebonite Game Plan.......good ball for a medium lane to medium heavy oil and drier lane conditions with higher polish. The Game Plan will give you good length and a smooth strong continuation on the back-end making this ball good for most house shots and even sports league shots. Very good ball.
The Storm Virtual Gravity Nano is awesome, especially on heavier oil. Tommy Hess used it to win the PBA tournament a couple weeks ago.
I am more of a stroker, and throw about 14 mph. I just got the Hammer Jigsaw Trap (after throwing Storm for many years) and it has a very nice "skid/snap". It doesn't hook too early, gets down the lane and hits the pocket like a truck. I bowl on medium/heavy oil and it's perfect for that. I leave fewer 10-pins than I used to. Now, it's an occasional 8 or a 9 pin, and I can live with that.
Good Luck!

Skin Bowling What do snakes do when they shed their skin?
My girlfriend's pet snake has been staying at my house recently and the other day he sits in his water bowl for the entire day. The next night I hear him moving around at night and find that he is shedding. He later goes under his log and sleeps the night (and day) away. I was wondering if this is a normal thing for snakes to do, that is, to sit in water then shed their skin.
Yes! The moisture from the water helps soften it so it can be pulled off it one piece rather than flake off as this is much easier for the snake to take off. Many snakes need the humiditiy in their cages kept at 60-80% for just this reason. Sometimes my snake has trouble shedding, so i put him in a shallow dish of lukewarm water and then gently remove a patch of troublesome skin.
I think my 7week old may have a milk allergy to my breastmilk what's a good formula to supplement with?
She has watery bowls, skin irritation and gags within the hour after eating...no vomiting and not really fussy, could this be milk allergy??
My daughter was actually allergic to my breast milk as a baby. I cut out everything from my diet and the doctors finally told me it was in fact an allergy to my breast milk. (She was severly allergic to everything) We tried her on several formulas but she was allergic to those as well. She ended up on Neocate a prescription formula and did much better. I know that the studies say that a baby cannot be allergic to their mothers breast milk but my daughter was. My suggestion is to see a pediatric GI doctor if you are really concerned about it. My son was having major skin problems and it was his formula, we put him on Nutramigen and his skin cleared up dramatically. Good luck and I hope she feels better really soon.
Bowling Ball Comparison Which has more kinetic energy? You science buffs, you.....?
1. A bicycle moving 10 km/h or a car moving 10 km/h? Explain.
2. A 90-mph fastball or a barely rolling bowling ball? Explain.
I can't figure these two out. I know that how big an object is and how fast it is moving determines an object's kinetic energy...I just don't know in comparison to one another.
It's amazing! Is that what you are looking for? http://seekitnow.info/118/a-bicycle

Best Bowling Balls What's the best bowling ball to buy for oily lanes?
I have the Raw Hammer Pain, Brunswick Red Zone, Brunswick Fury, Elite Scorpion, Columbia Big Shot and a Brunswick PBA Inferno. All of those bowling balls range from $105 to $175 and have helped me quite a lot on medium to heavy oil conditions.
Actually any bowling ball can be made "aggressive" with exotic drillings to hook more or less to conquer different oil patterns.
