Who lives in Guateng South Africa? and saw that bright light yesterday night?
About 11 o clock there was this bright blue flash of light..about a second long, it faded in and was gone but it turned the night to day. seriously the whole sky not one point.
I am sure it wasn't lightning...and a lot of people are wondering about a meteorite or meteor impact.
Anyone have information on this?

My mom thinks she saw a meteor over Northwestern Ontario (Near Thunder Bay) tonight. How can we find info?
She said it was light a bright bluish flash with a trail behind it. It was also not even dusk yet, so it must have been bright for it to be seen in the sky because there wasn't a lot of contrast. She also said that it was going way faster than a plane with a jet stream behind it. How can we find more info? If other people saw it, or what it might have been?
Meteors actually appear all the time in the sky; on a typical night hundreds of meteors might flash by. We modern people are unfortunately cursed by "light pollution" - the haze and ambient light from traffic lights, street lamps, cars, etc. - which prevents us from seeing a good deal of what goes on in the sky. As such, most meteors go unreported and are not catalogued in any way - there's simply too many of them to track and label.
There don't appear to be any major meteor showers going on currently. It's POSSIBLE that your mom saw the afterburner of a supersonic jet, which would be bright blue and would definitely show before dusk, and which would move much faster than a normal aeroplane. A meteor would appear only for an instant (a tenth of a second at most).
