How To Drill A Bowling Ball

Hi, I just purchased a bowling ball. I am a straight bowler. How should I ask the guy to drill the ball?
When at the bowling alley, I am most comfortable with the house balls. Since I don't curve the ball, I like the holes to be big and close together. I know there's two methods to drilling i believe. What are they called?
Since you're throwing a straight ball and want the span close together, you would have to ask the ball driller for a "conventional span and grip". The other type of span and grips are; fingertip and semi-fingertip. Even with those other spans, it's definitely possible to deliver the ball straight and without hook. Hope this helps!

how much does it cost to get a bowling ball drilled?
does this price include hand measurements and fitting?
The price range for proper fitting (measurements for thumb and finger holes, hole pitch and span length), slugs and grips for fingers (round, lifts or ovals) and actual drilling (extra axis or balance holes included) would be around $45 to $55 on average.
Usually your measurements will be placed either on a computer database or on paper file at the pro shop just in case you need to purchase or have a bowling ball drilled in the future at the same location.
