Bowling Ball Question
Bowling Ball Question
thjis question deals with momentum of a bowling ball and the momentum of a pillow.?

What is the momentum of an 8-kg bowling ball rolling at 2 m/s?
If the bowling ball rolls into a pillow and stops in 0.5 s, calculate the average force it exerts on the pillow.
What average force does the pillow exert on the ball?

Force equals mass times acceleration.

Here acceleration "a" is u/t where "u" is the initial velocity and "t" is the time taken.

So a= 2/0.5 = 4 m/s².

F = m*a, force is 32 kg.m/s². The pillow exerts the same force on the ball, but in the opposite direction.
