how to fix last minute curve when bowling?

i just recently started bowling and while i am a fairly decent bowler, 9 times out of 10, when i bowl, the ball curves to the right a few seconds before it hits the pins. it goes down the lane straight before then, i just cannot figure out why it is curving at the very end. what could i be doing wrong? i am a left handed bowler, if that helps.

Sounds like you are a natural. Throwing a "hook" or "curve" ball is something that most people try to do. It does take lots of practice to perfect.

When you release the ball at the foul line, ( if you are trying not to throw a hook ) my suggestion would be to keep your palm flat through out your entire arm swing. And the release point, keeping your hand flat only allows the ball forward roll. All really hard to say without actually seeing your approach and ball movement.

Now the question I would ask is, what type of equipment are you using? If you are using a high peformance ball, i.e. Hammer, EboniteStormrm....then those balls are designed to hook or curve.

Next suggestion, look to the bowlers in your center. The more experienced bowlers can help out if you ask, or talk to your pro-shop person. Most people who run pro-shops are USBC certified coaches to some level or anohter. Ask them for some help, might even get a few free frames/games of practice if you ask.

How do I knock down the 10-pin with more consistency in bowling?

I am an amateur bowler with an average of about 160. I hook the ball a fair amount, and throw with slightyl above average velocity. I ususally cover about 15 boards with the hook. It seems like I leave the 10-pin standing quite a bit even when I nail the pocket perfectly. Any tips for getting that last pin to fall more often?

You are not nailing the pocket perfectly if you are not knocking down the 10 pin. It needs to hit the one and the three pin at the same time and right in the middle. Keep practicing.
