what portions of charcoal and wood do i use to smoke 2-10lb. briskets on a pit with a smokebox, how many bags of charcoal and bags of wood at academy should i get? wat single type of wood should i use for both good heat and flavor. i am confused! 
some ads say to only use charcoal to light the wood, then some say to use charcoal as the main source of heat and the wood for only flavor. i am lost and need a fast response. i have to go and smoke the brisket tonight, well early in the am hours for tommorrow afternoon!

it all depends upon the size of your smokebox and the draft et.c. for the most part you will use the charcoal for the primary heat source and wood for flavor ,the type of wood is up to you vis If you want a light sweet smoke ,then use a fruit wood like apple or cherry ,but if you would rather have a heavy full flavored smoke then use either hickory or mesquite or a combinationof 40 %hickory and 40 % mesquite and20%coconut shell(just the hard part)not the fibrous part this will give a good smoke for brisketas for the ammouns have a couple bags of each on hand and use what you need ,it wont go bad and youcan always use it for another project .

what ithe diffrent between Tons of and Bags charcoal?
Ton is a weight different to tonne
OLD style English weight.
bags are just bags, (Tons can also be used as slang for LOTS)
so 2 tons of coal would be more than 2 bags (unless VERY BIG BAGS!)... mind u bags is slang now sort of!!
