Awesome Revs

Olds 455, recent rebuild, now car takes off awesome, but wont rev past 3400-3900 rpm, (in Gear)?
1979 Trans AM T-top with a 1970 "F" block, comp xe268h cam, edel. 750 vac. sec carb, hooker haeders, "E" heads, performer intake, 9:1 compression, th400 with mild (2100-2300)stall, 3.42 rear, stock length pushrods, new American made lifters, timing around 34-36? Installed cam at 0*. What woulkd cause this, launches real hard, but then 98% of the time, at around 3400 rpm, acts like it's got a rev limiter? Thanks so much for answers
Your choke, if you have one, has to be completely open for the secondaries to operate.
I'm wondering, you did use new valve springs? I find it doubtful that your valves are floating at that low rpm, but stranger things have happened.
yeah, what chevyracerman said! wow I'm groggy...

Horsepower, torgue, gearing, rpm's - ????????
Can someone tell me how each of these variables contribute to very fast 0-60 mph times? A basic explanation I can carry with when looking at different cars and trying to determine what's going on with each engine/transmission configuration available.
I've heard you want a "high revving" engine but what exactly does this get you. If you could maybe go through the gears as you accelerate from gear to gear that would be awesome.
Thanks!
The main variable is horsepower (HP). The more the faster acceleration (0-60).
