Ebonite Bowling Ball I am having trouble hooking the bowling ball?
everytime i throw my bowling ball, it just spins on the lane. my coach said it is because I am bringing my hand over the ball, and not up the side, and thats why its not hooking. it used to hook. have i developed bad habits? (The ball hooks when there is a dry lane, but im guessing thats because it can actually grip the lane to hook. I have a hammer plague #15, and a ebonite playmaker #14). what can I do to help myself? I am going bowling tonight, and I want to start to improve.
First, you should do some ball maintenance to get the reaction back in your ball.
I fill my kitchen sink with warm water mixed with dish soap. Let it soak for a couple of hours if possible, rotating it a couple times so the entire surface gets cleaned. Remove the ball and dry it thoroughly with a towel. The soaking will slowly eliminate the lane oil that has accumulated over time.
Then, apply a generous amount of a good ball cleaner and polish. I like Ultimate Black Magic. It removes any leftover lane oil and restores that nice "backend reaction" when your ball reaches the pocket. I use this stuff before every league night. It maintains my bowling balls nicely.
Try that first. If you still need more hook, use a sanding pad, with a 500 grit, which you can get at your pro shop.
Now, let's talk about your release. Increase your rev rate. You MUST get the wrist and hand involved in the release.
Never confuse speed with power because they're completely different. The pins will NOT react (fall) to speed alone. Power is created by the amount of "hand" and "fingers" you get on the ball upon releasing it, which creates revolutions (revs), which is what the pins react to, making them scatter and fall when the ball hits the pocket.
Just as you're letting go, get the thumb out first and snap or "rip" it with your wrist and fingers. This is where your revs and power come from, whether you throw it 19mph or 14mph, like I do.
Good luck!

Ooo sound cool here is what i would do:
- wear shirt, gloves, sweater (you can always take it off) and wear jeans. Like the jean type, but if not i would probably wear it with black leggings.
For makeup:
- you could do bright eyeliner- do normal eyeliner but on the lower or upper lashline put bright blue, purple, teal,,,,, to make your eyes stand out ( you could even do glitter)
- do a bright Lauren Conrad inspired look, use a frosty off-white or white eyeshawdow all over your lide with normal eyeliner
- no eyeshawdow with a bold liner- if you have gel of liquid eyeliner then you could create a "cat-eye" wing
Hair ideas:
- straightening it sounds cute- you could add a headbands, clips, or a ribbon
- you could wear it straight and braid i front in a frenchbraid- or not
- a basic pony tail (low or high) if you wanted to make it more special you could take a piece of the pony tail, braid it, and then wrap it around the elastic, so it looks like your hair is being held by a braid, just pin that under the ponytail
- You could wear it curly, you could do straightener curls- just at the bottom maybe
- halfup halfdown- pin half of your hair up, you could even use a bumpit
Those are my ideas hope they help!
Good Luck

Bowling Ball Comparison What stops the earth from colliding with the sun?
From my knowledge, Einstein proved that space is in fact curved. I heard a comparison, that if you put a bowling bowl on a trampoline, the bowling ball sinks to the middle. When something smaller than than the bowling ball gets thrown onto the trampoline, it then "orbits" the bowling ball until it runs out of force and sinks to where the bowling ball is. If this analogy is correct then what stops the earth from "falling" to the bottom where the heavier object is?
Thank you all who answered.
Einstein didn't proof it, he theorized! Later experiments (advancement of the perihelion of Mercury, lightray bending past the surface of the sun) proofed him right. That's how theoretical physics works!
The trampoline analogy has confused thousands before you. It tries (poorly!) to illustrate how curved spacetime (it not space that's curved, but spacetime!) makes an object move along a curve, although all the object is doing is taking the shortest time on its own watch between between two points in spacetime. So the sun's mass causes spacetime to be curved, and the earth is just going along the straightest path possible in such a geometry.
The important thing to note is that the spacetime bending is there already, so you do not need an instantaneous action at a distance (which would violate special relativity)

If we assume minimal friction, right before it hits the ground. If we take friction into account, still right before it hits the ground. It will accelerate at a rate of 9.8m/s with no friction, continuing to increase until it is stopped by something, in this case the ground.
