Clear Bowling Balls When studying Cosmology, at what point do you have to come to a supernatural conclusion?
One, I want to clear up a misconception that most Theists have. The Big Bang isn't an explosion. Rather, it was the rapid exspansion of matter that was once compacted in a singularity. Secondly, no Atheist believes something just popped up from nothing. Because of the Laws of Conservation of Matter and Energy and the Law of Casualty, we conclude that Energy and Matter always existed. Your "common sense" may say Matter and Energy can't always have existed. But take this for example. If you stand on a completely flat surface and hold a bowling ball and a gun up at the same height and shoot the gun and drop the ball at the same time, which will hit the ground first? "Common sense" will say the bowling but because of our laws of gravity, they'll hit the ground at the same time. So when you "common sense" conflicts with the Law of Conservation of Energy and Matter, stick with the Law.
Laws of Conservation of Matter and Energy,yes a conclusion can be made that matter has always existed. You can't prove that because you currently can't go beyond the big bang.
The law of casualty states that if you are killed in armed conflict,you are a casualty(don't understand the relevance).Causality is not a law but a logic parameter which in what way proves that matter and energy has always existed?
But why was the universe in that state as singularity. Are you truly suggesting that in an endless universe matter found each other randomly and congealed? The big crunch is far ,far from proven empirically and in my opinion will be debunked. Also it can't be shown that the heat and light released during the big bang could be retrieve by a collapsing universe. So subsequent big bang would have less energy than before. And as you say the universe is eternal there can't be eternal subsequent big bangs.
The point is you can't prove the universe ever-existing. And saying that god put it there is not conflicting with any law and the cause of the universe can absolutely believed to be god.
Your example is wrong if you fire a gun the gun will have a velocity in other direction than the ground, backwards, ever heard of recoil. Also that's only true in a vacuum (if you just drop the gun),air resistance will cause either the ball or the gun to land first.
