Winking Star Bowling Breakfast at the White House?
Dick Cheney and George W. Bush are having breakfast at the White House. The attractive young waitress asks Cheney what he would like, and he replies, "I'd like a bowl of oatmeal and some fruit."
"And what can I get for you, Mr. President?" George W. looks up from his menu and reply with his trademark wink and slight grin, "How about a quickie this morning?"
"Why, Mr. President!" the waitress exclaims. "How rude! You're starting to act like President Clinton," and she storms away.
Cheney leans over to Bush and whispers... "It's pronounced
'quiche'."

New Bowling Balls For 2010 New Year's Eve in NYC with a group of friends?
I know its waayy to early to even think about this but I'm planning on celebrating the New Years with a group of friends and thought the best way to celebrate this was to hang out in NYC and see the ball drop! (we're in high school and this'll be our last year together in high school - Class of 2010!!)
I'm from NJ and live really close to the city so taking the subway won't be a worrying factor I guess (besides that its going to be very crowded) but
What else do I need to be aware of ?
* Do I need tickets to go to see the ball drop?
* What time does the subway close ?
* Stupid question but Is there a place for us to hang out in NYC while waiting for the ball drop? (Like a bowling alley, mall, etc.)
* What actually happens - is there entertainment ?
* Just how busy and cold will it be !
awh boo that sounds kinda boring - to stay until the ball drops and you can't do anything

First the good news:
The subway doesn't close!
You don't need tickets. (But this can also be a bad thing - see below.)
Next the bad news:
Because there are no tickets, there are a huge number of people who show up for this every year. They herd you into pens where you wait there forever till the ball drops. You have to get in place HOURS early. No such thing as hanging out before hand. You go, you stand, you freeze, you try not to drink anything so you won't need to pee.
There isn't much in the way of entertainment before hand. It's pretty dull really. I never understood why people want to do this myself. As a New Yorker, I'd much rather spend New Year's Eve doing something else!
Sorry to be such a downer. I know you wanted to hear something else. But do a search of the New York board on Y!A and you'll see that most New Yorkers don't want to go to the New Year's Eve celebrations in Times Square.
Maybe it's something you need to do just once, to say you did it. Or maybe you might decide to do something else.
