Best Bowling Ball What is the best way to clean you bowling ball and make it look new without using any products?
it depends on what bowling ball you have, but most of the time you can put it into a bucket of hot water and it will take all of the oil out of the ball and make it hook like new. As far as making it look like new, you may have to take it to your pro shop and have them resurface it.

ebonite Magic what bowling ball is less reactive than a freeze?
i have three bowling balls.
A Ebonite Magic touch, an Columbia After Shock, and a Columbia Freeze. The After shock is a 16 pound ball and the other two are 15 pounds. When i throw my magic (right handed) my left foot stands on the middle dot in the very back and my right foot is directly to the right of it. i roll the ball out to second arrow, and it carries out about 2-3 boards and then it begins to hook. My magic is my most reactive ball and can hook enough to drive the pocket. now im looking for a ball that is less reactive then my freeze. Because when i throw the same shot with my magic and my freeze on a very little oil pattern, my freeze hooks more than my magic. im looking for a less reactive ball for the real dry conditions. HELP PLEASE
You could look at any of the Vibe series by Hammer, or if this is still too strong, there are some options in urethane out there. Urethane covers are more predictable and more even hooking than today's reactive equipment, but you could lose some carry percentage due to having less back end and entry angle to the pocket.
Unless you can really torque the ball on release (and if you don't naturally, don't start), plastic would be out of the question imho.
That's really all the info I can give you without actually seeing you roll. Good Luck.

The b-ball slipped pass the ringman on the horse in the last leg...
When one witness a bowling game where the players use balls and pins that are midget-like, he is witnessing a duckpin bowling competition.
Beginnings
Duckpin bowling was born somewhere in the 1900's in the eastern part of the United States. Duckpin is believed to have been born in the bowling alley which was owned by the famous baseball players Wilbert Robinson and John Mcgraw. History has it that people back then had an interesting idea of making the pins and balls smaller. The manager of the bowling alley, Mr. John Van Sant, hired a wood turner to customize the balls and pins. The people loved the new game and played it.
By the 1930s, around 200,000 people were playing the game. It has continuously gained popularity because people who wanted the fun of ten-pin bowling but hated the stress and backaches caused by the game quickly shifted to duckpin bowling.
Why is it called "duckpin" bowling?
The owners of the bowling alley (the baseball players) were also duck hunting enthusiasts. They loved hunting birds, especially duck during their spare time. As they watched the pins scatter around the alley, one of them made a comment about how the pins resembled ducks. This is the story of why the game was named "duckpin"
Specifications
Duckpin bowling has the same goal as that of regular ten-pin bowling- knock all the pins down. However, there are some major differences between the two games:
-The size of the duckpin ball is smaller, of course. A duckpin ball will measure to about 5 inches in diameter (maximum). The duckpin balls do not have holes in them, they are meant to be held in one hand.
-The pins are also smaller. The duckpins measure to around 10 inches in height.
-In duckpin, one can throw three balls during a certain round. Unlike regular ten-pin bowling, a player can try his luck three times during a certain round. This is because it is much harder to get a strike or a spare in duckpin bowling as compared to regular bowling.
-When a player knocks down all the pins in three throws, he is merited with 10 points. No bonuses are given to him for knocking all the pins down.
One must try playing duckpin bowling to experience the fun and excitement it brings. It's as fun as ten-pin bowling but minus all the back and finger aches.

I used to be my school cricket captain & played exceptionally well, this i can say as I have won many awards for my achievements. But in my college studies became my first priority & i pursued that, Now I'm working in an MNC, I wanted to join cricket & applied for the corporate team selection, I told my colleagues that I used to play this game well, then when they tested me out during selection, I was pathetic, I could'nt field a ball, bat properly, my timing was very bad, my bowling was worst.. They were all laughing at me struggling there. I'm very embarassed, shamed now. Im depressed.. No amount of practicing is helping me to get back the abilities I had 6-7 yrs ago. So I request any cricketing pundit out there to give me some tips on how to get back playing well, please suggest some websites or any info link too. Thanks in advance

Where to buy a Texas Tech bowling ball?
I've googled it and can't find any websites that sell Texas Tech bowling balls. My mother-in-law is alumni and told me over Thanksgiving that she's looked all around Lubbock and can't find a store that makes them. Of course I figured I could find it easily on the internet and give it to her as a Christmas gift, but i'm not having any luck. Any ideas?
i know it seems weird to post this here, but I posted under sports and haven't gotten any answers, and there wasn't a Lubbock category in Travel....and I live in Houston!
Do they paint the balls? I thought they were etched. I'm not a bowler, though.
Try calling a local bowling alley and ask them who makes their custom balls.
Texas Tech gear is very hard to find around here. My Husband is Alumni there as well.
EDIT>> Not sure how they make the balls. Here is a list of the AMF bowling alleys. You should call or go by one of them.
