What Kind Of Bowling Ball should i get for Dry Lanes?


Im in 3 leagues and i have a Fury Pearl Right now and i am going to move up to 14lbs and i already have a black widow for heavy lanes for when i move up and i have a columbia white dot for my spare ball but i am still searching for a dry lane ball. I look some hook for dry lanes the Fury pearl is good but i would like to try something new and i dont really like throwing a plastic ball for dry lanes. Any one have any suggestions....thanks (in advance)

In my humble opinion, a bowler's arsenal isn't complete without a urethane ball and a polyester (plastic), both of which can be very handy on very dry lanes, despite what the posters above have stated.

You may not like throwing your plastic ball on dry lanes, but there is no reason you can't be successful with one. My guess is, you just don't trust the ball because it is plastic and you think of it as an inferior piece of equipment. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have finished leagues with an average in the 220's throwing my spare ball all season. I have a friend who I watched shoot 859 throwing a cow-patterned Viz-A-Ball for Christ's sake.

If you want a new piece of equipment, get a urethane ball and shine the hell out of it, something from Brunswick's "Groove" line would be my suggestion. But do not be afraid to throw your plastic ball, it can prove to be your best friend if the lanes are dry enough and you trust it.

I like him in all kinds of ways: He's a nice guy (except when you listen to his radio... he drops the F bomb a lot, lol), he's underrated (I love choosing the underdogs), and, speaking of dogs, I love his foundation! I'm always willing to help a critter in need.

I have to say, even though Da Biff is Da Best, I like RCR more then Roush Fenway...
Biff is the best, Ragan is second best, but I don't care that much about the other guys (Edwards, Kenseth, or McMurray)... they're just alright.
I'm very respectful of Harvick, Bowyer and Burton... I always cheer for these guys to do well every race. I was really hoping Labonte or Biff would join them; then instead of RCR it would be Team Perfection!

It has been a week filled with complaining from the NASCAR fans that seem to thrive off negativity. Those are the fans who will scrutinize every little discrepancy in the NASCAR system, or way of doing things.

Apparently, Brian France and his cohorts paid off the rain gods in order to soak the Daytona International Speedway, after all, they can control the weather. It rained for heavens sake. I would have loved to have seen the full 500 miles. Sure, I think they could have given it more time before calling off the end of the race. The track does have lights and they could have raced until 2 am if they needed to, but NASCAR officials felt the need to call off the race. Perhaps they had more information at the time regarding the forecast. These fans quickly forgot that just a week earlier, they witnessed an electrifying finish to the Bud Shootout. However, fans refused to focus on the fantastic finish of that race. Instead, they bemoan the fact that the race began at four o’clock in the afternoon instead of noon.

Of course, you had the conspiracy theories flying around after NASCAR did not penalize Dale Earnhardt Jr five laps after the notorious incident with Brian Vickers. Just a day earlier, NASCAR officials penalized Jason Leffler in the Nationwide Series for a similar incident. Basically, the fans claim that NASCAR favors Earnhardt Jr because of who he is, and because of his last name. They quickly forgot about the previous two pit road penalties that NASCAR levied to Earnhardt Jr and the No. 88 team. They could have let one of them penalties slide if they were really as inconsistent and biased as everyone seems to claim.

How about the top 35 rule that everyone is up in arms about? You sure do hear a lot of complaining about the rule, but no reasonable suggestions are provided. The rule is in effect to protect the top 35 teams and sponsors. Sure, there is probably a better solution than the top 35 rule, but it is not ruining the sport, as some try to claim. With that said, I disagree with NASCAR allowing the points swapping between some of the teams. That must end in my opinion.

The champion’s provisional receives plenty of criticism as well, but it really is a good way to pay homage to past champions, especially the ones in the latter part of their careers. They earned the right for a freebie. Heck, Tony Stewart may need to use the provisional before it is all said and done.

The television coverage receives a bulk of censure from fans that expect perfection from networks and broadcasters. They could not wait for ESPN to re-enter NASCAR, but they have been horrible if you listen to most fans. They complain about FOX, and I have even read where the fictional cartoon character ‘Digger’ is played out. Fans, the guys at FOX are just trying to have some fun. They are just trying to add some extra entertainment to the broadcast. If you do not like it, well, that is fine, tune it out. Pretend it is your children making unnecessary noise. You learn to tune them out. There is room for improvement within the three television networks, but give them a break, and stop looking for stuff to complain about. It really gets old.

Bowling is a popular sport among American men. The tools of the trade consist of a ball, shoes, bowling bags and other accessories. What are the characteristics of bowling balls? Can anyone make bowling balls in their own backyard or there is more to it?

Five pin bowling balls are manufactured according to other specifications. The weight of these balls needs to be between 3.25 and 3.625 pounds. The diameter is not exact and needs to be anywhere between 4.75 inches (12.1 cm) and 5 inches (12.7 cm).

The candle pin balls are even smaller than these, weighing only 2 pounds 7 ounces or 1.105 kg. Candle pin bowling is considered by many a greater challenge than the other sports because the ball is lighter than the pin, which weighs 2 pounds 8 ounces or 1.134 kg.

The bowling ball’s behavior on the lane is influenced by many factors. The most obvious of these factors is the player’s delivery. A player has many choices to make when launching the ball, but he has to know the roles each factor plays in the outcome.

Once the ball is out of the player’s hands, gravity takes control first. Once the ball reaches the surface of the lane, friction kicks in. The way player lets go of the ball and what forces he applies to it before influence the gyroscopic inertia. All of these factors need to be harmoniously combined to provide the best possible outcome when a player takes his shot: STRIKE.

Bowling balls come in different sizes. For average players that visit a bowling alley once in a while, using the balls found on the premises is common. But for the avid players, for which bowling is part of their lives, owning their own bowling ball is a necessity.
